Cheng Foo / Marlene Yuen.
"Cheng Foo, based on a found taped interview, is a book about a former Chinese railroad worker. He arrived to Canada in 1881 to work on the railroad; he worked the western section of the railroad for nearly 5 years and worked until he couldn’t stand it anymore. After that, Cheng Foo settled in the interior town of Yale, BC and opened a small grocery store, which sold Chinese foods and provided basic lodging to Chinese passing through Yale. Cheng Foo always wanted to return to China, but was not able afford the journey home."--provided by artist.
