Disk 1 (36 min.): Details how, by structure the enviorment and organizing the schedule, you can reduce conflicts and guide young children to develop self-confidence and self-help skills. Includes balance between activites: indoor and outdoor; quiet and vigorous; teacher directed and child initiated. The video offers great tips for: nap and story time; managing space; and even how to use computers with different age groups.
Disk 2 (29 min.): This video addresses how teachers think about guidance and disipline, the influences affecting what they consider either acceptable or challenging behavior, and why they think children's behavior should be considered as "mistaken" rather than "wrong." Teachers also discuss the importnace of teamwork and staff support in helping them deal with the challenging behavior more prevelent in the new millenium.
Disk 3 (37 min.): This video focuses on helping children to develop self-disipline, problem-solving skills and a stronger sense of themselves. It provides positive and proven-effective stratagies teachers can use to help children learn to become more self-disiplined and more self-confident. At the heart of Teacher/Child interaction is the simple, but heartfelt philosophy: "Teachers must deal with children with humor, compassion and respect"
Disk 4 (29 min.): Learn how to develop a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate, flexible, intellectually engaging and individually oriented.  Experts discuss not only the nuts-and-bolts of the how-to, but also the philosophies which underline the strategy and impact of curriculum on the behaviour and learning of young children.  Explains how your curriculum can more fully serve the needs and interests of every child and improve discipline. Illuminates the thinking and strategies required to develop a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate, flexible and intellectually engaging and individually orientated.
Disk 5 (29 min.): Addresses the concept and implementation of positive guidance as a technique to avoid and avert problematic behaviours.  Teachers air their concerns about balancing individual vs group needs, and discuss various ways to help children learn problem-solving techniques as an alternative to challenging behaviours.  The issue of 'time out' and its use in the classroom is also raised.
