Examining "regular" fire-safety inspections : the missing relationship between timing of inspection and fire outcome

Summary: This report examines the relationship between duration since the most recent fire safety inspection and the outcomes of the fires, with respect to frequency, extent of fire spread, and fire-related casualty. Based on a sample of over 4,000 fires reported to the British Columbia (BC) Office of the Fire Commissioner (1999 to 2003), covering reporting areas across the whole province (168 areas).
