Beyond gay the politics of pride

Christie, R. W. (Added Author). Transmission Inc. (Added Author).

Summary: Before throwing Vancouver's 30th anniversary Gay Pride Festival, Parade Director Ken Coolen is on a mission to understand the role of Pride, and make it matter. He and his colleagues are traveling around th world to places where Pride is still steeped in protest to personally experience the real oppression that still exists. Their goal is to instill in Vancouver the relevance required to take their event beyond the typical gaypride parade. Pride is now a global fight for human rights. Through Ken and the VPS we discover that despite thousands of people cheering in the streets, Pride is much, much more than a parade and a party. It's a giant step on the road to true human equality.-from container
